At NASS: Physician Presentation on Use of Lanx’s Lateral Fusion Device

Presentation will discuss the firm's Timberline MPF System.

The international spine community—physicians, educators, caregivers, healthcare policy experts, engineers and manufacturers—is gathering in New Orleans, La., for the 28th annual meeting of the North American Spine Society (NASS, Oct. 9-12).

Lanx Inc., a privately held spine company focused on fusion surgery, will host a presentation titled “A Unique Modular Solution for Lateral Interbody Fusion & Fixation” at the Solutions Showcase Theater at NASS.

Ryan DenHaese, M.D., a neurosurgeon with Buffalo Spine Surgery, Lockport, N.Y., will discuss his experience performing minimally invasive spine surgery with the Lanx’s Timberline MPF system, which Lanx officials claim is the first commercially available modular anchored interbody device for lateral fusion.

The Timberline MPF System features a modular polyetheretherketone (PEEK) intervertebral spacer and a low-profile titanium plate implant with either a two- or four-screw design. The spacer is available in various widths, heights and lengths that can be assembled to multiple plate styles and sizes intraoperatively for customized fit and fixation. The system also includes streamlined instrumentation for assembly and implantation to accommodate patient anatomy.

The presentation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 12:00-12:20 p.m., Central Time, on the exhibit floor in Hall J of the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

“With the evolution of spinal surgery moving toward complete lateral surgery, it is clear that spine surgery solutions are needed to fully treat degenerative and traumatic spine conditions, while minimizing downtime for patients,” said DenHaese. “It is our goal that this discussion will illustrate the benefits of the Timberline lateral system seen both in the operating room and in the lives of so many of my patients.”
